Ready for Kindergarten?

Parents are their children’s first and most important teachers and have been preparing their children for school since the day they were born.

They often ask, “What should my children know before they begin kindergarten?” Many parents do not realize that what children use to learn in first grade is part of the kindergarten curriculum today, and many children enter school unprepared to face its challenges.

The Count Down to Kindergarten program provides Elkhart County parents with important kindergarten readiness information and specific ways they can help their children prepare to start school with the important foundations for early learning in place.

Support through resources and workshops gives parents the tools and confidence to help their children learn through play the concepts so essential for school success. Parents and children throughout  Elkhart County  receive Count Down to Kindergarten Calendars, STOP Light Activity Cards and attend hands-on workshops and in-home parties, all designed to engage them in fun, early learning activities together.
