Health Department: Safe Kids Coalition- Car Seats
Do you need to know if your car seat is safe for your child? ElkhartCounty does not currently offer any free distribution programs for parents to obtain car seats. With funds from the Indiana Automotive Safety Program, there are currently 4 Permanent Fitting Station sites available in the county.
The Automotive Safety Program at Riley Hospital for Children provides funding for 82 Permanent Fitting Stations and 12 satellite sites within the state. Four Permanent Fitting Stations operate within Elkhart County to assist parents with obtaining and correctly using the appropriate car seat for their children. Appointments can be made by calling the appropriate site. Parents receive one-on-one instruction from a Certified CPS Technician in making sure everyone in the car is riding as safely as possible.
